Mottistone Event 16th April 2023: message from club chairman

Hi Everyone, this is just a quick reminder of next orienteering event to be held at Mottistone Common, The Longstone & Mottistone Downs on Sunday 16th April.
It was great to see so many of you at Ian’s event in Firestone Copse last month & hope you can all make it to Trevor’s forthcoming event next week. This is the first time in many years since Trevor & Ian have planned events for the club & it is encouraging for them & important for the club to have a good turn- out!
Trevor has planned 5 colour coded courses for the event, achieving a good balance to suit all abilities. The courses will be as follows:
Yellow Course 2.4km For beginners & novices:
Orange Course 3.3 km For beginners & improvers:
Short Green Course: 3.5 km More technically challenging.
Long Orange Course 5.5km For those wanting a longer run but not technically difficult.
Blue Course 6.1 km For experienced navigators & challenging!!
The Yellow, Orange & Short Green courses will be using 1: 5,000 Scale map
on Mottistone Common & The Longstone area only. The Long Orange & Blue Courses will be using 1:10,000 map & will venture onto Mottistone Downs.
Registration will be 10.00am to 12.00am. Starts will be 10.30am to 12.00am.
Follow signs into Mottistone Manor Car park where our NEW FLAGS will be
flying! I look forward to seeing you all there.
In the meantime I like wish you all a very HAPPY EASTER
