Hello everybody. The next two events!
Sunday 21st November 21 at Mottistone Estate and Westover Downs.
Sunday 19th December 21 at Golden Hill Fort, a new venue for Christmas.
Following the St Catherines event, the club’s committee have met and decided to stage two more events before Christmas.
The first event will be held at Mottistone on Sunday 21st November. A full range of colour coded courses will be planned by Christine and I will control the event. We will be using the Mottistone Estate and downland at Westover. Starts and registration will be at Mottistone Manor car park. Registration 10.00/12.00. Start times 10.30/12.00.
This year’s Christmas event will be on Sunday 19th December at Golden Hill Country Park. This is a new area for WIGHTO who have been granted permission to use this area by Gift to Nature. Mike has been surveying this area with the intention off providing Gift to Nature a permanent orienteering course (POC) which will be available for all to use by spring of next year. Mike will also be the planner for this event offering Yellow, Orange and Score Courses. Starts are from the main car park at Golden Hill. Registration and starts as above.
There will be a £5.00 (per map) entry fee for both off these events.
The St Catherines event did attract participants from some off the Island’s running clubs and I hope this trend will continue. To that end, Christine has been promoting the club’s activities via facebook. Hopefully this will attract a much wider audience and interest in the club’s events. And judging by the comments she has already received, this seems to be the case. If the club are able to attract newcomers via facebook and continue to see running club participation then the club’s future could be promising. If all goes well after the next two events we will plan a full diary of events for next year.
