Wight Orienteers invite you to their orienteering event at Cheverton Farm/Down on 16th February 2025. Please note that dogs are to be kept on leads.

Grid Reference/ Parking Area: Signed on the B3323 Bowcombe Road, between Shorwell & Newport via the Cheverton Farm entrance. O signs will be visible near the turning.
Courses: Colour Coded courses> Yellow, Orange & Green
Other: Dogs to be kept strictly on leads
Cost: British Orienteering adult members £5.00, adult non-members £8.00, family group £8 (£10 non-members), Juniors £1.00.

Organisers’ Notes
The inaugural event at Cheverton Farm was held back in June last year. We had
a very good turn- out for that event & I hope that is repeated for this February’s
event. The vegetation was very high there last summer, but this did not distract
your enjoyment of this new area, so hopefully with lower vegetation, navigation
will be easier and faster! I have been surveying the woodlands to the north
which incorporates the mountain bike trails. The switch-back trails, jumps,
platforms & horseshoe embankments make it a very interesting area & well
worth using. So all courses on the day, will be venturing into this new area that
I’ve added to the existing map. The bridle track we used as access in June did
cause some issues & is even worse this winter so the farmer has kindly granted
us permission to have registration & assembly at the farm itself where there is
plenty of parking available with hard standing just of the main road. Approach
to the farm will be signed off the main road between Newport & Shorwell,
albeit closer to Shorwell. Once you’ve turned off main rd follow further signs
through the farm to assembly & registration which will be as usual 10.00/
12.00am. Courses: Yellow, Orange & Green and will probably add an extended
loop to the Green to make it a Blue!! Starts 10.30/ 12.00. Courses close 1.30pm.
