Dan Williams Tackles The Punchbowl Marathon

Every year the Surrey group of the LDWA (Long Distance Walkers Association) host a challenge event which is The Punchbowl Marathon.

The event is open to walkers and runners and takes in mostly footpaths and bridleways including a long climb up to the top of the Devil’s Punchbowl. Two routes are offered; a 20 mile route and a 30 mile route, and the aim is to navigate the course by map and/or route descriptions. It’s very similar to orienteering but on a much larger scale.

This year Dan Williams ran the 30 mile route in a time of 5 hours 41 minutes. Read about Dan’s experience of the Punchbowl Marathon here.
