Train with WightO

November 28 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

TIME: 11.00 – 13.00

PLACE: Firestone Copse – meet in the car park of Firestone Copse Road, PO33 4DL

Join us for a bit of outdoor fun whilst learning to orienteer, or to improve your skills.

Our aim is to provide a session that will meet you at your level. From there you will build on navigation skills, map reading, compass use, competitive tips and fitness. An experienced orienteer will be at hand for support, whilst you lead the navigation. You will receive feedback on your progress, pick up helpful tips and together we can set realistic next step targets to prepare your for events. By the end we would like you to feel a sense of achievement as well as a sense of wellbeing after close contact to good nature.

This is a LINK to what happened at the last training meeting at Parkhurst Forest.

With the start of November the colder weather requires sensible clothing with sturdy footwear to move safely off the paths. Bring a compass if you have one and a flask with a drink to warm you up after the session during the debrief is a good thing!

Feel free to drop us an email (info@wighto.org – subject: Train with WightO) and to let us know how many maps, resources to prepare and ask questions.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Carol, Ben & Nina

Did you know that orienteering is also known as a THINKING SPORT? This is because it is particularly good at training memory, thus keeping our minds and bodies working. Some individuals, especially teenagers and adolescence can benefit from make the independent decision making applied whilst finding controls on a course and with this, learn inner resilience and confidence.
