DESCRIPTION:TIME = 11.00 – 12.00  \nPLACE = Parkhurst Forest (main car park\, off Forest Road). \nPlease join us for a bit of outdoor fun whilst learning to orienteer\, or to improve your navigation skills. \nThe training sessions will take place on one of the Isle of Wight’s permanent orienteering courses (POC). Here\, our coaches will introduce you to orienteering and then navigate by your side to find the controls in the forest. You will receive helpful tips and feedback in order to build your orienteering skills at your own pace. \nIf you are familiar with the basics navigational skills and map reading\, then come along to set yourself a timed challenge and complete the POC with coaches at hand to chat to about the course and help you build on your performance. \nWe hope to answer any questions that you have about the sport\, support your growth in outdoor activities and thus brighten up your weekend with some fun and exercise. \nAll abilities and ages are welcome by the Wight Orienteering Club. \nWe hope to seeing you there! \nCarol\, Ben & Nina

SUMMARY:Borthwood Copse\, Sunday 13th December 2026
DESCRIPTION:Winford Community Centre\, start 10 am to noon. \nThe details of courses for our Christmas event at Borthwood will  becoming up soon! \nEntry is on the day. \nBorthwood Copse is a deciduous woodland with a good variety of ancient oak and chestnut trees\, as well as huge beech trees\, a variety of birches\, hazels\, rowen and other native flora and fauna. The woodland is a special site as several different species of bats live there\, this includes the rare Bechstein’s bat (Meiotis bechsteinii). The National Trust manage the site for the conservation of its biodiversity and keeping dogs on a lead is an easy way in which we can supports nature. Thank you to the National Trust for use of the site from all of us.
