Cheverton Farm a new area for WIGHTO. It is one of the largest working farms on the island and has been the location for the IOW Mountain Bike Centre for a number of years now, with numerous bike trails to suit all abilities. There are only two bridleways that go through the farm from east to west, and two footpaths on the peripheral edges to the south of the area, so public access is quite limited. The landowner has granted the club access to use the area for orienteering as with the mountain bike centre for the spring and summer months only. The southern area has been surveyed for this inaugural event and is typical of island chalk down land. There are some quite complex areas with prominent earth walls and embankments. The area is mainly used for grazing livestock, predominantly sheep, so dogs must be kept under control and on leads at all times.
